The Shape of Letting Go
2022, Mixed Media on Canvas
11" x 14"
The Dance series is about movement before meaning.
Across 24 paintings, each gesture is instinctive, unplanned, immediate, and alive. The brush does not describe a dancer; it becomes one. Strokes twist, collide, and release, carrying the rhythm of something felt rather than seen. There is no choreography, only response, an unfolding dialogue between control and surrender.
These works hold the tension between precision and chaos. Some movements feel weightless, others grounded and forceful, as if pulled by gravity itself. The space between strokes becomes as important as the strokes themselves, pauses that breathe, silences that shape the rhythm.
There is no beginning or end in The Dance. Only continuation.
A reminder that motion itself is a language, and the body, even in abstraction, remembers how to speak it.
