The Architecture of Becoming
2005, Oil on Canvas
23" x 24"
The Architecture of Becoming explores the invisible structures that shape a life. Bold black pathways move across the canvas like a maze, blueprint, circuit, or city map, creating a framework that both restricts and guides movement. Within these boundaries, luminous passages of yellow, blue, green, and cream emerge, suggesting moments of growth, discovery, memory, and transformation.
The painting exists in the tension between order and spontaneity. The geometric black forms represent the systems we inherit, build, and navigate beliefs, ambitions, obstacles, and decisions. The expressive color fields flowing through them symbolize the unpredictable nature of experience itself.
Rather than offering a clear destination, the work invites viewers to wander through its interconnected spaces, finding their own pathways and meanings. Every turn suggests a choice. Every opening suggests possibility.
At its core, The Architecture of Becoming is a meditation on the lifelong journey of constructing an identity, one decision, one detour, and one discovery at a time.
